JCL Syntax Checking and Runtime Validation

All JCL syntax is verified, detecting incorrectly specified JCL, missing or invalid keywords or parameters, incompatible DCB characteristics and other errors. Any field of any parameter on any IDCAMS and SORT statement is inspected. Users are alerted when a dataset or program is “not found” and when a dataset already exists. Unexpected security violations are also detected. PROCs and INCLUDE groups are expanded and all symbolics are resolved.

JCL Standards Enforcement

Site-specific standards can be enforced in the coding of JCL. Standards rules can be written in our proprietary Standards Enforcement Language (SEL), REXX, COBOL or Assembler. SEL allows for IF-THEN-ELSE logic in the coding of standards enforcement rules. Dataset naming conventions, JOB statement parameters such as jobname and class can be strictly enforced.
