SAVRS Plugin for RDz
Eclipse-based plugin to enable seamless access to the $AVRS database of JES log and SYSOUT on z/OS from an IDE desktop workspace such as IBM’s RDz
What is SAVRS Plugin for RDz
$AVRS is the system output (SYSOUT) log retrieval and viewing component of SEA’s Output Management Solution designed to significantly reduce the personnel and system resources required to handle the archival and audit requirements of mainframe Job logs.
Rational Developer for System z (RDz) is the IBM z/OS Eclipse-based software development IDE. Its main purpose is to streamline the z/OS development process into a structured and modern GUI (Eclipse-based) tool. In a Service Oriented Architecture RDz can be deployed to request and receive $AVRS Joblog and SYSOUT Viewing Service entirely within the RDz desktop environment. This new framework empowers TSO developers and simplifies maintenance and support tasks.
The $AVRS plug-in for IBM RDz benefits companies looking to integrate their z/OS batch service delivery with DevOps and Agile methodologies. With Batch Applications on z systems typically accounting for 50% or more of data assets, the $AVRS plug-in for RDz ability to give developers access to Joblog and SYSOUT directly from within their GUI based development environment can save companies valuable time in the development cycle, while improving the quality and speed of the maintenance of their critical batch applications.
